ANZ announced the appointment of Sreeram Iyer as Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific, Europe and America (APEA) with responsibility for Operations, Technology, Legal and Compliance, Property, Sourcing, Transformation and Major Programs.

Mr Iyer will report to CEO APEA, Alex Thursby, and Group Chief Operating Officer, Alistair Currie.

Mr Iyer joins ANZ from Standard Chartered Bank where he was most recently Regional Chief Operating Officer, India and South Asia, based in Mumbai. He has more than 25 years of experience, including 18 years at Standard Chartered Bank, in diverse functions
across different disciplines and geographies.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Thursby said: "As APEA COO, Sreeram's responsibilities will be to build and strengthen ANZ's infrastructure to deliver our super regional strategy.

This will help our businesses grow with a customer focus, while keeping a close control on cost, risk management and processes."

Mr Thursby thanked Mark Robinson, who has held the COO role over the last year in addition to his role as CEO for South and Southeast Asia.

"Under Mark's guidance ANZ has successfully accelerated key initiatives relating to our operations hubs in Manila, Chengdu and Bangalore, and implemented disciplined project governance processes for ANZ's regional expansion.

Mark will now focus exclusively on driving ANZ's growth in the South and Southeast Asia region which has tripled its contribution to ANZ Group revenue since 2007," Mr Thursby said.
