Buying and selling a pharmacy PDF Print E-mail
img207 steps to a highly effective sale or purchase of a pharmacy.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has re-launched its guide to buying and selling a pharmacy.

Titled ‘Buying and Selling a Pharmacy: 7 steps to a highly effective sale or purchase', the guide reflects the Guild's commitment to supporting and encouraging new and existing owners of community pharmacies.

The Guild-developed resource continues to provide useful advice on all aspects of establishing and running a viable pharmacy business, as well as providing logical guidance about selling a pharmacy business in Australia.

The guide includes up-to-date information and links to a range of professionals and organisations associated with the buying and selling of pharmacies, providing an effective means for the potential buyer or seller to obtain expert advice and information.

The guide uses 7 simple steps to provide pharmacists with everything they need to know including essential business, financial, insurance, and legal advice and succession planning, as well as personal aspects of buying or selling a pharmacy.

The revamped and fully revised version of the ‘Buying and Selling a Pharmacy' guide, along with its companion resources - ‘One Hundred Days - From 100 days before to 100 days after your pharmacy purchase" and The Perilous Pitfalls of purchasing a pharmacy and how to avoid them' are available now from www.buyingandsellingapharmacy.com.au. Existing subscribers are able to login and access the revised guide.

"The Guild has always looked to support new owners of community pharmacies, as well as assist existing owners to "retire" from pharmacy ownership or take on a mentoring and support role to younger partners in their pharmacy, the Guild National President, Kos Sclavos, said.

For those thinking of buying or selling, and who have not yet subscribed, this Guide is a useful and informative document to help you on the route to either owning or selling a pharmacy.

This resource was first developed and launched in 2000 as a result of an initiative of the Women and Young Pharmacists' Committee (WYPC). One of the key champions of this work by the Guild was the late Judy Liauw, chair of the WYPC for five years from 2005. Judy was committed to ensuring young pharmacists had access to the right information when entering into pharmacy ownership and was determined that the Guild should support and assist early career pharmacists to become partners or owners in their own right.
