Corrs Chambers Westgarth Special Counsel Leanne O'Brien was recently appointed by Her Excellency the Governor to the Queensland Heritage Council (QHC).
Leanne was appointed to the Council due to her specific knowledge, expertise and interest in heritage conservation. Leanne said of her appointment, "I am excited to work with so many established people who also possess a passion for planning and heritage matters". The QHC's main functions are to provide strategic advice to the Minister on heritage matters and to make decisions about whether places are entered or not entered in the Queensland Heritage Register. The QHC, made up of twelve independent members, is also responsible for protecting and preserving private and public properties, including Brisbane's Story Bridge, Jondaryan Woolshed and Paronella Park leisure garden near Innisfail. Leanne was appointed to one of two general member positions made vacant due to the retirement of members Professor Virginia Lee and Mr Gordon Grimwade as of 31 December. |
